FAQs
What is the Q2-3067 Optical Couplant, and when is it used?
The Q2-3067 is a transparent, grease-like silicone compound designed for optical coupling applications—such as fiber optics, lens assemblies, light-sensing instruments, and electro-optical systems. It fills the gap between transmitting mediums to prevent reflection and loss of intensity.
What key performance properties does it provide?
This couplant offers high optical clarity, good resolution properties, excellent mechanical shear stability, and adhesion at low temperatures. Its refractive index at 589 nm is about 1.4658, and its specific gravity is ~0.976 at 25 °C.
How should the product be applied for the best optical coupling results?
Apply with a blade, syringe, or automated dispensing system. After application, press and rotate the parts to remove excess compound and eliminate air entrapment. If necessary, apply a vacuum (~600 mm Hg) for ~5 minutes.
What size packaging and shelf-life information applies?
One available size is the 453 g jar (catalog size 3143368). When stored below 30 °C in the original unopened container, the usable life is approximately 11 months from the production date.
Are there limitations or cautionary notes to consider?
This material is intended for industrial/optical use only and is not tested for medical or pharmaceutical devices. Users must review SDS and perform compatibility testing with substrates.
