Ethyl Ether Anhydrous GR AC 20 L - EX0190-5
Ethyl ether (CH3CH2)2O is also referred to as sulfuric ether, diethyl ether, or just ether is used as a laboratory solvent. Ether is a desirable solvent for oils, fats, waxes, perfumes, dyes, resins, hydrocarbons, and gums. It is also used as fuel and to synthesize other chemical compounds.
Application - Ethyl ether can be used as:
* A solvent in organic reactions such as Grignard and Wurtz reactions.
* A solvent along with lithium perchlorate (LPDE) in the reductive monoalkylation of amines and its derivative with aldehyde.
* A solvent for the extraction and purification of (L+) lactic acid from fermented broth and synthesize PLA (polylactic acid).
