What is SYLGARD 567 used for?
It is a two-part primerless silicone encapsulant for potting automotive assemblies, power supplies, high-voltage resistor packs, LED lighting, industrial controls, and connectors. It offers unprimed adhesion, flowability, minimal shrinkage, and good dielectric properties, protecting electronics while insulating them electrically.
What does 'primerless' mean here?
Primerless (self-priming) means SYLGARD 567 can bond to many substrates with only good cleaning, rather than requiring a separate primer step first. This simplifies processing and reduces the number of materials and operations needed, which can save time and cost on a production line.
Why does minimal shrinkage matter?
Minimal shrinkage means the encapsulant changes size very little as it cures, which helps preserve dimensional accuracy and reduces stress on delicate components and their connections. Combined with its low viscosity and flowability, this supports reliable, void-free potting of sensitive assemblies.
How is SYLGARD 567 cured?
It is a heat-curing, two-part material, so the mixed components cure when heated. Note that the mixer is not shipped with the kit, so plan for mixing equipment separately. Consult the technical data sheet for the recommended mix and cure schedule for your components.
What color is it and why?
SYLGARD 567 is black, which suits applications where an opaque, dark encapsulant is preferred, such as shielding light-sensitive components or providing a uniform finished appearance.
