What is DOWSIL™ OS-125 Fluid and what is its composition?
How and where should OS-125 be used?
This fluid is intended for removing oils, greases, flux residues, silicone contaminants or other residues from metal, glass or plastic parts prior to bonding, coating or packaging. It supports immersion cleaning, spray application, or wipe impregnation.
What are some key physical and performance properties?
Typical properties include a flash point of -15 °C (acetone portion) and a specific gravity of ~0.77 at 25 °C. The fluid is colorless and offers rapid evaporation, leaving minimal residue—suitable for high-purity cleaning tasks.
What are important storage, handling and safety considerations?
OS-125 is a Flammable-Liquid Category 2 with a DANGER hazard signal. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, keep containers grounded, and avoid ignition sources. Contact with eyes may cause serious irritation; vapors may cause drowsiness. Refer to SDS for full hazard details.
What are limitations and compatibility considerations?
Though compatible with many substrates, OS-125 contains acetone—so it may degrade certain plastics, coatings or adhesives. Ensure compatibility testing if used on sensitive surfaces. Also note it is neither tested nor represented for medical or pharmaceutical uses.
