FAQs
What is DOWSIL 7094 used for?
It is a one-part, flowable, low-modulus silicone adhesive/sealant with durable adhesion to various substrates, ideal for non-corrosive applications. Its flowable, self-leveling nature suits sealing seams and filling gaps where the material needs to settle into place and bond flexibly.
What does 'flowable' mean for this sealant?
Flowable means the sealant is fluid enough to self-level and flow into gaps, seams, and low spots after dispensing, rather than holding a stiff bead. This suits horizontal joints and gap filling where you want the material to settle and make continuous contact with the surfaces.
Why is a neutral (alkoxy) cure beneficial?
A neutral alkoxy cure releases a milder by-product than acetoxy sealants (no vinegar-like acetic acid), making 7094 gentler on sensitive metals and electronics and suited to non-corrosive applications. It cures at room temperature on exposure to air moisture, forming a flexible, durable seal.
What does low modulus give you?
Low modulus means the cured sealant is soft and flexible, so it accommodates movement and stress between bonded parts while placing low load on the substrates. This is valuable for joints that flex or where delicate materials could be stressed by a stiffer, higher-modulus sealant.
How does 7094 cure, and how fast?
It cures at room temperature on exposure to atmospheric moisture. Because moisture drives the cure, cure speed and depth depend on humidity and section thickness; thicker or confined sections take longer to fully cure. Consult the technical data sheet for cure details for your application.
