70% IPA Cleanroom Wipes, Elegantly Engineered for Cleaning Medical Devices

Pre-wetted, or presaturated, 70% IPA wipes remove particles and contaminants from sensitive medical devices without scratching or contaminating surfaces. Wipes are safer and more convenient than squirt bottles because spills are eliminated, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are minimized. Cleaning efficiency is optimized, as solvent saturation is consistent. Cleanroom wipes are also engineered with specialty synthetic fabrics that will not shed, snag, or tear during use. 1. 70% IPA Antimicrobial Action

Isopropyl alcohol or Isopropanol, commonly known as IPA, is simple secondary alcohol with the formula C₃H₈O. The alcohol group (-OH) on IPA is linked to two other carbon atoms. This molecule is slightly polar, because of the electronegative oxygen, while the CH₃ groups are nonpolar and hydrophobic. The polar end of IPA makes it miscible with water, which is also polar.

70% IPA sterilized by killing 99.99% of germs in under 30 seconds. Concentrations of IPA above 90% and below 60% are less effective against microbes. 70% IPA/30% water is the most optimum mix of IPA and water for disinfection. The mechanism of action occurs because the nonpolar end of IPA penetrates the hydrophobic phospholipid bilayer surrounding a microorganism and denatures the proteins inside. 30% water improves IPA’s ability to destroy germs because it slows the alcohol’s evaporation and prevents instant coagulation, which can prevent IPA from reaching all the proteins. This solvent system destroys many types of bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

Semiconductor grade 70% IPA contains 70% high purity IPA that is filtered through 0.05 µm media, and 30% deionized water filtered through a 0.2-micron filter. It is ultra-low acidity and free of ionics, trace metallics, non-volatile residues (NVR) and particulates. Semiconductor grade IPA wipes leave no residue to prevent microbial or dendritic growth in electronics.

2. Medical Device Assembly

Coventry Hi-Purity Alcohol Wipes are designed for the most critical purposes, such as semiconductor fabs, in Class 10 (M3, ISO 4) cleanroom settings. These wipes contain 70% semiconductor grade IPA and are tough enough to clean abrasive and irregular surfaces, metallic or non-metallic. The fabric is made of monofilament “no-run” polyester with a laser sealed edge to prevent loose fibers from shedding. The wipes are cleanroom double-bagged with resealable inner-bag to avoid solvent loss.

3. Automatic Stencil Printer Cleaning

Chemtronics IPA 70 Presaturated wipes contain ultra-pure electronics grade IPA and are well suited for touch-up cleaning of automatic printer stencils and cleaning of semi-automatic printer stencils during and at the end of production runs, as well as for general purpose use. These wipes are plastic safe and strong enough to hold up under the most rigorous scrubbing, as they will not tear, shred, unravel or lint. Available in a C-fold contained in a convenient dispensing box, or in a pull through the tub.

4. PCB Assembly

Techspray presaturated wipes are engineered for high volume PCB assembly and other types of production. The nonwoven cellulose-poly material has greater absorbency and is less likely to snag or shred, making these wipes ideal for stencil and PCB cleaning. They are available in multiple packaging options.

5. General Cleanroom Cleaning

Chemtronics Hi-Purity Alcohol disposable wipes are economical for general purpose use in medical device assembly. They are presaturated with a solution of 70% semiconductor grade alcohol and 30% deionized water, making them safe for most critical applications. Cleanroom double-bagged with resealable inner-bag to avoid solvent loss.

• Polypropylene wipes are made of low-linting, melt-blown polypropylene that is super-soft and has ultra-low abrasiveness for delicate surfaces.
• Econowipes are made of non-woven 55% cellulose/45% polyester for greater saturation, low linting and high strength.

Class 6-7 Cleanroom
