FAQs
What is the Ultra Light-Weld 3030 adhesive and what chemistry does it use?
Ultra Light-Weld 3030 is a one-component, solvent-free, acrylated-urethane adhesive designed for UV/visible-light curing. It is a clear liquid with no non-reactive solvents, and it cures rapidly under appropriate light exposure—ideal for high-volume plastics and housing assembly.
What applications is this adhesive designed for?
This adhesive is intended for bonding plastic housings, display assemblies, appliance components and other industrial assemblies requiring fast, tack-free cures. It supports a wide range of plastic substrates including ABS, PC, SAN, PVC, polyurethane and more.
What are the key mechanical and physical properties of the cured adhesive?
When cured, the adhesive exhibits a tensile strength around 11 MPa (≈1,600 psi), elongation at break of ~41%, Shore D hardness ~65, density ~1.04 g/mL, refractive index ~1.50, and glass-transition temperature ~70 °C.
How fast does the 3030 cure and what should I know about process control?
Fixture times as short as 0.2 seconds are possible under high-intensity UV/LED (e.g., BlueWave® LED Prime UVA at 15 W/cm²). Actual full cure typically takes ~3–5× the fixture time depending on bond gap, substrate transparency and lamp intensity.
What preparation, handling and storage conditions should be followed?
Keep the adhesive in its original dark, sealed container; exposure to ambient light may prematurely begin curing. Dispensing lines and syringes should be UV-blocked. Store between ~10-32 °C. Ensure substrates are clean of grease, mold release agents, or other contamination for best adhesion.
