FAQs
When does a Luer Lock tip matter on a 10 mL syringe?
Whenever the connection will see pressure or repeated handling: pushing fluid through a syringe filter, connecting to tubing, or drawing viscous liquids. A friction-fit slip tip can loosen in those situations. The threaded Luer Lock collar keeps the needle or fitting attached until you deliberately unscrew it.
How tight should I screw on a needle or filter?
Finger-tight is enough. Twist until the connection feels snug and stops turning easily. Overtightening can crack the hub or make the fitting hard to remove later. If a connection leaks at finger-tight, replace the needle or fitting rather than forcing it. A quarter turn past snug is usually plenty.
Is a 2-piece 10 mL syringe less accurate than a 3-piece one?
Graduation accuracy depends on the barrel markings, not the number of components. The practical difference is plunger feel: 3-piece syringes with rubber stoppers usually glide more smoothly, which can help with slow, controlled delivery. For routine measuring, a 2-piece syringe is typically sufficient. Try a box before converting a whole unit.
Can this syringe be used with a syringe pump?
Pump compatibility depends on the pump's approved syringe list, which specifies brands and sizes by model. Syringes not on that list may not seat or calibrate correctly. Check your pump manufacturer's documentation before using any syringe, including this one, in an infusion device. When in doubt, ask the pump vendor.
How do I read the dose correctly?
Hold the syringe at eye level and read the graduation that lines up with the leading edge of the plunger seal, the edge closest to the tip. Expel air bubbles before reading. The black graduations on this syringe are designed to contrast sharply with most liquids. Recheck after removing bubbles.
